  Sibyl Buck 

Sibyl Buck is a passionate teacher who’s warm love for her students is palpable. Teaching is Sibyl’s third career, after stints as a high-fashion model in the ’90’s, and later as a touring bass player and backup vocalist, which careers took her several times around the world. She brings the depth of her life experience to her teaching, which is rich in metaphor, insight, and authenticity. Sibyl has completed her first year of study in the Yoga Therapy Certificate program at Loyola Marymount University, and her offerings as a yoga teacher are devoted to health and well being. Sibyl’s influence from master teachers Annie Carpenter, Jasmine Leib, Jillian Pranksy and Maty Ezraty is evidenced by a style balanced between strength-building, alignment focused movement, and deeply meditative and relaxed stillness. Sibyl is an anatomy and physiology enthusiast, which knowledge she shares during class, leading students to a deeper understanding of the why and how of yoga, and their own inner workings. Expect to find yourself propped up by pillows, blankets, and blocks at least once, and to gain a better understanding of yourself from the outside in through both physically active and passive practice. Sibyl offers public classes exclusively at Yoga Desa in Topanga.

  Tulsi Bagnoli, M.A. 

Tulsi is a fourth generation meditator who has been practicing yoga and meditation since the age of four and teaching professionally throughout the US and India for the past 13 years. She is passionate about the practice of living yoga and helping people awaken to the untapped energy that flows within us all.
With nearly three decades as a devoted practitioner and over a decade as a teacher, Tulsi weaves the alchemy of her own practice and experience as a student to create endless space for authenticity and deep healing. She intuitively personalizes each class as medicine for her students’ needs and works with her students where they are at. The invitation is to come as you are and practice your yoga.
Tulsi was raised in an atmosphere of mantra, meditation, and spiritual lifestyle. Both her parents were teachers of Transcendental Meditation and her father was a Vedic Astrologer. Tulsi’s initiation into meditation and yoga came from her parents as a young child. From the age of four, she would sit with her parents for morning and evening Sadhana (practice). From that moment on she was a devoted practitioner and seeker of Vedic wisdom.
In her late teens, Tulsi was in a car accident that changed the course of her life. She sought out a path of healing and self-discovery which guided her back to the mid-west, the region of her childhood. This is where she began her formal Hatha Yoga studies, with a teacher whom she devoted nearly a decade of practice with and who encouraged her to begin her teaching practice. After experiencing the immense healing powers and miracles of daily yoga sadhana, she felt a strong calling to share this practice with others. Through her dedication to growth and service, Tulsi was guided to become a certified teacher of meditation and Hatha Yoga at the age of 20.
She continued on to receive a B.A. and M.A. in Vedic Science with an emphasis in Sanskrit chanting, a 200-hour Vinyasa Krama Yoga teacher training with Ramaswami Srivatsa, in the lineage of Sri T. Krishnamacharya, and a 300-hour certification in Sattva Yoga, with Anand Mehrotra, in the foothills of the Himalayas. After a lifetime of being immersed in the sacred Vedic sciences, Tulsi’s passion and curiosity led her to dive deeper into Jyotish (Vedic Astrology), Ayurveda and breathwork, studying with world renown mentors and teachers.
Tulsi is grateful to have been blessed to study and sit with the many gifted teachers who have paved the way for her. It is through grace and their guidance that she is able to share her experience and offer the deepest of gifts in service.

  Vivica Schwartz 

In Vivica’s public classes you are guided through a soulful, nourishing flow that is both heating and invigorating and at the same time calming and self-reflective. She encourages you to inquire within as your body moves in and out of various postures to allow energy to move through you and to remove blockages by breathing consciously, through alignment and the cultivation of awareness. She invites you to practice at your own pace and to always stay true to your own breath so that the postures unfold as a result of an inner opening and expansion. Her sequences aim to gradually and progressively open the body in order to meet your true Self, confront your limits and transcend them. For her, Yoga is about cultivating Self-awareness and being present in each moment. It is about using the opportunities that reveal themselves to us through mindful practice, allowing emotional healing to take place while we strengthen our physical bodies. Vivica completed her 200h teacher training in 2002 with the original founders of Yogaworks, Maty Ezraty, and Chuck Miller and went on apprenticing with Annie Carpenter for 6 months. She has been teaching ever since. She became a certified Children’s Yoga Instructor in 2014. Her continuing studies have led her to Yoga’s sister science Ayurveda and in 2015 she completed her 200h Ayurveda Wellness Counseling training. Vivica Schwartz

  Kate Shela 

Kate is a 5Rhythms teacher, shamanic teacher, and gifted shamanic practitioner. She is known for her enormous passion, a vulnerable sense of the intimate and an ability to create community and tribe. Kate possesses a bold improvisational style and a passionate sense of humour that enables magic to ooze into the everyday moments. She is a senior instructor within The 5Rhythms founded by the late Gabrielle Roth with whom she has been closely associated since 1992. She is accredited to teach both Waves and Heartbeat

  Annmarie Soul 

Annmarie Soul is a yoga teacher, healer, and singer-songwriter bringing light to this planet through the healing power of music, prayer, and connection to the divine. She is based out of Los Angeles’s beloved Topanga Canyon where she is nestled in nature and wildlife, and sources strength from the quietness and peace of the native Chumash mountains. Nature is Annmarie’s biggest inspiration, where she receives healing and guidance, and from that place, universal energy comes forth to be shared. Annmarie has been teaching yoga for over 15 years and leads Mind Body Spirit retreats around the world. She loves to bring people on pilgrimages to sacred sites, temples, and high vibrational places to have a rich and life-altering experience. Annmarie has taught and performed at many festivals including Bhakti Fest, BaliSpirit Festival, Lightning in a Bottle, and Moksha Festival. She has songs in films and has most recently released her album Back To The Garden.
Annmarie is currently working on her new album titled Illuminate set to be released this year 2018.

  Alissia Marciano 

Alissia Marciano is a passionate yogi who loves to share the transformative mental and physical benefits that yoga has to offer.  Her vibrant personality, keen aesthetic, and creative sequencing will guide you through a vinyasa inspired flow, focusing on alignment and linking breath to movement while listening to hip music and breaking a sweat.

Her creative journey has led her through many adventures across the globe from New York, Paris, Vancouver, and Toronto to L.A. Having spent over a decade in the film and fashion industries, Alissia felt a shift from within.  A shift that pulled her towards harmonizing mind, body, and spirit through the practice of yoga and dance.
Her passion for the great outdoors coupled with her background as a dancer led her to surfing in Fiji, backpacking the Inca trail in Peru, and all the while expanding her knowledge and skills as a yoga instructor. After 7 years in Venice Beach, California, she found her dream Yoga/Surf bungalow, nestled within the woods of Topanga Canyon where she started her own program Beach Yoga with Alissia.
With over a decade of yoga and 20 years of dance experience, Alissia’s teaching style will awaken and challenge your practice.  She received her Yoga Alliance RYT200 certification with YogaWorks which is evident in her upbeat classes that will push your limits. She is thrilled to join the Yoga Desa community and continues her education with master instructors at YogaWorks.
